For nearly every weapon ever invented, a counter-technology has been devised. The first stick used to bop someoone on the head begat a piece of bark to use as a shield. The sword begat armor. Organized armies begat the castle. Aertial bombers begat anti-aircraft guns. And so on and so forth for thousands of years.
But defenses too sometimes necessitate countermeasures. Cannons evolved as an answer to castles. Radars were found to be jammable or evadable. Mines became necessary to defeat tank armor. And these in turn cretaed their own counter-countermeasures.
This arms race between offense and defense is almost certain to continue into the future as long as weapons are made and wars are fought. If there is one area where human ingenuity has proven near limitless, its in ways to destroy and to protect.
